Overwatch has passed 20 million players

In news, that can only be described as mind-blowing, Bizzard has announced that Overwatch has surpassed a global player count of 20 million.

Let’s put that in context shall we? The population of Australia at the time of writing is 23.13 million. Average television ratings on weeknights is around 1 million, while a show is considered a hit when it reaches anywhere between 2 and 5 million.

Sony has sold more than 40 million PS4 consoles worldwide, while Microsoft has sold around 30 million Xbox Ones. The Wii U on the other hand has sold only 10 million units. Think about that. Overwatch has twice as many players as there are Wii U’s in the world. A number almost equivalant to entire population of Australia is playing Overwatch right now. Is this blowing anybody else away?

Overwatch’s Halloween event is live now. You can check out a bunch of screenshots from the event in the gallery above.

Overwatch is available for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
