Pokémon GO Plus launches this month

Pokémon GO Plus, the app’s wearable device, will be available in Australian retail stores this month. Nintendo announced the releases of the anticipated device following the announcement of the company’s further foray into mobile gaming; Super Mario: Run.

pokemon-go-plus-2Pokémon GO Plus connects to either Android or iOS devices via Bluetooth and will alert players to both nearby Pokémon and Pokéstops.

Nearby Pokémon will cause the device to vibrate and flash green. When a player is approaching a Pokéstop, the Pokémon GO Plus will also vibrate and the light will blink. In either case, players simply need to press the button to either throw a Pokéball or collect XP and items from the Pokéstop.

Players will know when a Pokémon has been caught as the Pokémon GO Plus will vibrate and its light will flash. While Pokémon GO Pluspokemon-go-pluscan be used while the app is running in the background, the distance traveled will not be counted. Additionally, Pokémon GO Plus is unable to provide notifications for any Pokémon that appear due to Incense.

To use the Pokémon GO Plus, Pokémon GO must be updated and players must be using either iOS 8 or 9 or Android 4.4 – 6.0. Pokémon GO Plus will be available from September 16, 2016.

Pokémon GO is available now for Android and iOS and is free. It includes in-app purchases.
